Joanna’s spirit is one of warmth, connection, and confidence.
She easily engaged me in group conversation by asking fun and creative questions that quickly had us relating to one another.
Joanna created a circle of inclusion and drew on current social statistics and articles to lead our discussion.
Her insightful takeaways resonated deeply with me and will continue to serve my confidence and goals.

Confidence Coaching Workshops

An example of a creative workshop designed for rising 6th graders: Understanding our Strengths, Collecting our Confidence.

This workshop helps students understand their own strengths better and harness these skills. We also explore how empathy, kindness and authenticity can lead to a greater sense of confidence. Reflecting together in a group offers an individual sense of evolution while illuminating the power of teamwork.

Students, parents and educators - we’ve all had a challenging couple of years as we’ve tried to navigate the ever-changing parameters of pandemic life. Even under normal circumstances, it’s hard to leave a familiar environment full of friends and support, and stand on the abyss of a larger unknown entity known as middle school.

The Creative Confidant helps students feel ready to take that next leap with their best foot forward!

Workshops are scheduled based on class year or age group. We’ve been leading interactive workshops for various ages ranging from 3rd graders to college students.

Thank you for the wonderful workshop you put on for rising 6th graders. You are so fantastic.
My son enjoyed it and absolutely heard and remembered what you shared and discussed.
I’m so grateful to have resources like you who can help strengthen the scaffolding we work hard to build with him.
— Darcy, parent of 6th grader
Joanna led a workshop for our middle school youth group focused on resilience, authenticity, confidence, and empathy.

From conversations with both young people and parents, I know that these are precisely the topics we need to be addressing with our young people, especially in this moment.

Joanna is warm, inviting, funny, and bright. She did a fantastic job balancing offering her own hard-earned wisdom and inviting them to tap into their own experience and wisdom. Likewise, she brought in her faith in a gentle way that encouraged the youth to reflect on their own faith as a resource.

The youth were incredibly engaged throughout by both her reflections and the small group activities she included to break things up— they had so much to say about the questions she asked, it was difficult to get them to stop talking!

It was a powerful experience for our young people, and I highly recommend it! We hope to have her back again soon.
— Jack, Associate Rector ~ St. John's
I had the pleasure of asking The Creative Confidant, Joanna Dutra, to guest lecture in my class at Suffolk University about goal setting in preparation for students to complete their required Career Action Plan.

Joanna was so helpful, giving these graduating seniors enhanced perspective, tips and tricks to create actionable, doable and authentic plans. One of the greatest takeaways that these young adults commented on was the notion that plans can be organic and can change (very timely coming out of a worldwide pandemic!)

Joanna was engaging with the students (always difficult in a Zoom setting!) and they appreciated her questions and thoughts about career planning.
I hope to have her back again in future semesters to do this again!
